AI Smart Board: An AI Classroom Board on Android TV
One Flutter app that turns any Android TV screen or tablet in a classroom into an AI-assisted teaching board. The teacher pairs the screen with a code, writes, then asks for an explanation, a summary or a quiz in one press.

Context
Most classroom screens in the region are ordinary non-touch TVs, and interactive panels cost thousands of dollars. Students in most public schools do not carry phones in class. The product is built for that reality: a remote instead of touch, tablets the school owns, and Arabic first.
Scope I disclose publicly
- One Flutter app with tv and tablet flavours, driven by the remote (D-pad) on TV and by touch on the tablet.
- Pairing the classroom screen with a tablet through a short code or a QR code.
- A writing and drawing board, with AI actions to explain, simplify, summarise, translate and generate quizzes.
- Classroom activities: word search, crossword, a team quiz race, and a random student picker.
- A FastAPI backend with PostgreSQL, Redis and MinIO, and an admin dashboard for the school.
- Arabic by default with RTL, then English and French.
Decisions and trade-offs
- Android TV before the web, because the screen already hanging in the classroom is what the school actually owns.
- A fake AI provider is the default, so the app runs and is tested with no key and no cost.
- Type sizes and spacing tuned for reading from the back of the room on cheap screens.
- The trade-off: an APK installed by hand instead of a store listing, in exchange for running on cheap Android TV boxes that stores do not always reach.
The repository is private. The school pilot is distributed as an APK, and I can demo it live.
Disclosure: A pilot for schools. I name no schools and publish no usage figures.
