BTN POS & Stock: Cross-Platform Desktop Point-of-Sale & Warehouse Sync
A native cross-platform desktop POS and multi-warehouse inventory application built with C# (.NET 10), Avalonia UI, and local SQLite so retail counters never stop selling when the internet drops.

Context
High-throughput retail counters and wholesale depots need instant barcode scanning, keyboard-driven cashier flows, direct thermal printer access, and guaranteed offline operation — requirements where browser tabs often fall short.
Scope I disclose publicly
- MVVM desktop cashier interface in Avalonia UI supporting rapid barcode scanning, split tenders, holds, returns, and shift closeout reports.
- Multi-site inventory engine tracking stock levels, purchase receipts, and inter-warehouse transfers.
- Local SQLite storage with role-based cashier permissions and audit logging.
Decisions and trade-offs
- Choosing .NET 10 and Avalonia UI to ship a single native desktop codebase that runs cleanly on both Windows cashier terminals and macOS management machines.
- Storing transactions locally in SQLite first so checkout latency is zero regardless of network state.
- The trade-off: native desktop deployments require installer rollouts compared to a web URL, in exchange for rock-solid offline reliability and hardware integration.
This is a private client codebase; live desktop walkthroughs can be shown on a call.
