Tokyo Commerce & Supplier Portal: Multi-Surface Storefront and Live Supplier Pricing

A multi-surface commerce platform combining a public storefront, an operations back-office, and a lightweight PIN-gated supplier portal for real-time wholesale price updates.

Node.jsTypeScriptMulti-SurfaceE-Commerce

Context

Wholesale supplier prices and stock availability shift daily. Calling suppliers by phone and updating product catalogs by hand leads to stale prices and canceled orders.

Scope I disclose publicly

  • A dedicated, rate-limited, PIN-gated supplier portal where wholesale partners update item pricing and availability directly from their phones.
  • Multi-instance storefront and admin services running in isolated Node.js processes.
  • Nginx security hardening (strict payload caps, IP rate limiting, and noindex headers) protecting supplier endpoints.

Decisions and trade-offs

  • Isolating supplier price-entry into a separate narrow-scope service rather than exposing the main store admin to external partners.
  • Optimizing the supplier UI for one-handed mobile speed with minimal payload size.
  • The trade-off: running separate services for shop, demo, and supplier surfaces adds process management overhead in exchange for clean security boundaries.

Running in production across isolated services; architecture walkthroughs available on request.

Disclosure: Supplier identities, wholesale prices, and order volumes are confidential.
